You can finally take a sigh of relief and put your bug spray cans away if you live in Washington, D.C because Fall is almost here. Even though it flies by quickly, the season brings along a cool breeze with just enough sun that you can don warm layers comfortably and wrap your hands around a hot cappuccino. From cidery visits to enjoying apple picking, stepping on crunchy leaves, and hikes, this is a great time to enjoy DC in all its glory. There are Fall concerts you can attend and prepare for the spooky season with all things creepy, fun, and outrageous. With so much happening all around you, it’s the perfect chance to let loose and let the festivities rein you in.
Get ready for the District’s best music festival coming your way. To be more precise, head to the Merriweather Post Pavilion on the 1st of October to watch renowned artists like Bleachers, Mitski, Lorde, etc., perform their hits and bob your head with the crowd. It’s an exciting opportunity you don’t want to miss, especially if these musicians have made it onto your Spotify playlist more than once.
Art installations and local eats are also scattered around the grounds that you can make a beeline for during breaks. The weather will also be pleasant since it’s the perfect mix of not-too-hot and not-too-cold. Amazing music? Check. Snacks? Check. A great time? Check. Don’t wait too long to get your tickets.
Everybody knows that they don’t make horror movies like The Exorcist anymore- a real tragedy in our opinion. If you feel like reliving this iconic 1973 horror film, pay a visit to The Exorcist Stairs in Georgetown, which was one of the filming sites. Although it attracts a lot of tourists, locals should check it out at least once.
You should save energy for climbing up the tall, narrow stairs connecting pedestrians between Canal Road NW and Prospect Street NW because that’s a workout on its own. And what better time to get your heart beating faster than October with Halloween right around the corner? Do it for the pictures, if nothing else.
What’s Fall without at least one enormous pumpkin purchase you can go home and carve in whatever silly design you please? If you feel too old for pumpkin arts and crafts, you can simply bake a pumpkin pie or other such dishes. As is the case with most things, picking a pumpkin is more about the experience than the destination. We recommend visiting a patch with a significant other, family, or friends.
Select the weirdest pumpkins you can find and take pictures with them so that you can enjoy a fun, laughter-filled day together. Sip apple cider and pick pumpkins at one of DC’s most popular spots: Butler’s Orchard, situated an hour’s drive away from the country’s capital. You can also opt for Queen Anne Farm, another great choice you won’t regret.
