The Best 3 Fall Activities in Columbus

Pumpkin Farms and Patches

The various pumpkin patch options in Columbus will take you by surprise. When we say there are numerous ones, we mean it. Fall festivals in October happen every weekend, with local pumpkin farms and patches offering a range of activities to keep locals and tourists alike entertained. Do you have an antsy preschooler at home? During the week, you can visit Circle S Farms, Jacquemin Farms, or Lehner’s Pumpkin Farm.

On the other hand, those looking for the complete pumpkin farm experience should definitely check out Leeds Farm. If you’re interested in a huge pumpkin trampoline, corn bins, kettle corn, a zipline, pedal carts, and much more, it’s the place to go. We have another one for you: Smith’s Farm Market. The place is swarming with pumpkins and picturesque settings to snap fun or silly pictures with pumpkins. The list goes on, but this is a good place to start.

Experience a Skull Session

Attend a Skull session at The Ohio State University if you love bands and instruments. Not only will you step right into the football spirit, but you also don’t have to buy tickets for the game. In a Skull session, there is a pep rally where the marching band performs, the football teams come out, and the coach delivers a speech- the energy is electrifying, and you are bound to have a lot of fun.

These sessions take place around two and a half hours before every game, lasting up to an hour. Once the Skull session is over, you can roam around amongst the tailgaters and try several free samples like a Sugardale hot dog. Trust us; you don’t want to miss out on the game day’s excitement and energy.

Apple Picking

What’s Fall in Columbus without apple-picking? It’s a fun and useful activity, especially if you like baking. You can use the apples you pick to make delicious desserts like apple pie or purees such as applesauce. There are many farms you can choose from and most also have farm festival weekends. If you want to visit one during the week rather than the weekend, you can check out Cherry Hawk Farm and Lynd Fruit Farm. We also recommend Branstool Orchards and Orchard and Company. Don’t forget to prepare beforehand so that you can have the best apple-picking experience possible. It would be best if you packed bug spray, closed-toe shoes, hand sanitizer, snacks, and sunscreen.
